Derby City Lab (Format festival)

My personal favourite of the exhibitions at format festival 2023 was the Derby city lab, which was in a small building, split into two rooms. One room had tables with photobooks laid out, along with each there was an artist statement explaining each. In the other room there were chairs to sit on whilst you look through the books if you wanted to.

‘The silent land’ by Jesse alexander was my favourite book in the exhibition, the book is of both documentary and landscape photography, it documents the natural landscapes, how it changes with the seasons, and the lands potential. I think that this book was my favourite out of the collection as I feel that the work had a lot in common with the work I am interested in making myself.
